The Tiara has a long and varied history. It was first built as a dwelling for an Arabian Billionaire. Legend has it that he never did live in the building. It seems that it was then purchased by the Malaysian Government for rest and recreation for its public servants. Some time later the Tiara was sold to a hotel group. The buildings and grounds were subsequently purchased by the current owners late in 2004. Renovation and an overall face lift, along with landscaping was then undertaken. The result of this work is the stunning and delightful property and garden setting that you see today.
The farsighted partnership of owners could see the potential for a resort type hotel which would cater for a wide range of clientele. The owners have a fine eye for detail and excellence of service. They are top class business people and wished to provide the high quality they would demand should they visit another country; a world class international standard. A stroll through the glorious tropical garden and grounds will provide evidence of this unstinting attention to detail.
The fountain, adjacent to The Grill and Blue Bayu Lounge (see image below) is said to be a one off as the mould was broken after pouring.
